Antonio Di Bacco is an innovation consultant based in Turin, working in English and Italian with SMEs and with companies outside Italy, with or without a presence in the country. Strategy, marketing and business development to understand the problem; digitalisation, AI and sustainability to solve it. Business first, technology second.
Twenty years in large organisations, then in 2021 I opened my own practice to take that experience where it is needed most: small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and institutions. Today I work on digitalisation, AI and sustainability inside real business processes, starting from the data.
I am based in Turin and work with companies across Italy and Europe. Mostly SMEs, where a process put back in order is felt within weeks. The method holds with larger organisations and public bodies too, and large companies I know from the inside: I spent my first twenty years in them.
I work on scoped projects, with a defined scope and KPIs, or with an ongoing presence in the company as fractional manager, without the cost of a full-time hire.
Since 2020 I mentor startups in the European programmes of EIT, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, from Climate-KIC to Food and Manufacturing. Since 2024 I am listed on the European Commission’s register of experts as a tender evaluator. Both are described here.
I also write Perbacco!, a fortnightly newsletter published in Italian, listed among the best in Italy by Salvatore Aranzulla.

Languages. English and Italian, for meetings, documents and dashboards alike. Everything can run in English. When a project involves people in Italy, it usually runs in English with management and in Italian with the team on the floor, and moving between the two is part of the job.
Remote and on site. Remote by default. The initial analysis and the sessions with the team gain from a day or two in the company; the build and the measurement run well over video calls. I am on Central European Time.
The shape of an engagement. A first call of thirty minutes, free. Then a written proposal: the process to start from, the four phases, the KPIs, the timing. During the project, a weekly check-in and a shared dashboard from the field test onwards. At the end, a hand-over, so the team carries on without me. For an ongoing presence as fractional manager we agree days per month and a date to review it.

Listed on the European Commission’s register of experts. Reading projects from the perspective of the decision-maker is the other side to the work I do in the company.
